In January 2019 we made an application for a Dutch national child, who was born in the United Kingdom and resided in the UK for the first 10 years of his life. The application to the register the child as a British citizen was successful by mid-March, to the delight of the mother and child. We submitted that under section 1(4) of the British Nationality Act 1981 the applicant should be registered as a British national, as he is a child who has lived in the UK for the first 10 years of his life.
